Indian summers are no joke. One moment your little one is happily playing, and the next there’s sweat on the neck, a red patch in the skin folds, and a cranky baby who just can’t settle. The heat is hard on delicate baby skin , but a few simple habits keep your baby cool, comfortable and rash-free all season.
1. Dress your baby light and loose
Skip the layers. Choose soft, breathable cotton in light colours. Tight or synthetic clothes trap heat and sweat, which leads straight to prickly heat. Loose cotton lets the skin breathe.
2. Change diapers more often in summer
Heat + a damp diaper = the perfect setup for diaper rash. In summer, check and change more frequently, and give your baby short “diaper-free” breaks to let the skin air out. Choose soft, breathable diaper pants that pull moisture away and keep your baby dry for longer.
3. Clean gently — skip the harsh wipes
Summer skin is already irritated, so the last thing it needs is alcohol or fragrance. For diaper changes, sweaty necks and sticky hands, use 99% pure water wipes — alcohol-free and fragrance-free — to cool and clean without stinging.
4. Bathe smart, don’t over-bathe
A cool (not cold) bath once a day refreshes your baby. Over-bathing strips natural oils and dries the skin. Pat dry gently — don’t rub — especially in the folds where moisture hides.
5. Keep baby cool and hydrated
Keep the room between 24–26°C, avoid the harsh afternoon sun (10am–4pm), and for babies over 6 months, offer extra fluids. Exclusively breastfed babies under 6 months need more frequent feeds, not water.
